Cars That Get 30 MPG EPA Combined

In these days of $4 gasoline, automobile manufacturing companies create plenty of noise about their models, which provide 40 mpg of fuel economy. The issue is this usually means 40 miles per gallon in highway driving as rated by Environmental Protection Agency. Except for Hyundai that has pretty full lineup of fuel-efficient engines, the 40 mpg club is composed primarily of limited production, specially equipped, high-efficiency versions. There are very few vehicles in the market, which provide 40 mpg of fuel economy and you would have to do all your driving on cruiseways for realizing fuel efficiency from handful of subcompacts and compacts, which that make the grade.

For cash-strapped motorists who actually drive in congested city traffic and on open highway, here is a more usable, longer list: trucks and cars, which provide at least 30 miles per gallon of fuel economy as rated by EPA on city and highway scale. All five members of 40 mpg club are included here, but this list of 30 mpg vehicles offers slightly more variety for buyers seeking significant fuel savings. The Environmental Protection Agency creates its fused rating using complicated formula, which adds approximately 55% of city rating to 45% of highway rating.

Station Wagons, Conventional Gas-Burners, but Few from Europe.

As you go through the list, you will find that were it not for single Audi, pair of minicar and Volkswagens brands, Daimler’s Smart and BMW’s Mini – German automobile manufacturing companies would be absent from the list. The list has only two of conventional domestic manufacturing firms, which include General Motors and Ford. Even Chrysler is missing in action when it comes to fuel efficiency, albeit Fiat, the group’s controlling partner from Italy does contribute one model to list: 2012 Fiat 500 subcompact.

There are over just small subcompacts in 30 mpg plus class. However, automobile manufacturers are enhancing their overall fuel economy and there are two station wagons, a number of compacts and few midsize cars and Sport Utility Vehicle-styled crossovers here. All deliver at least 30 mpg of fuel economy.

Most of these are traditional gasoline burners, albeit the list has 14 hybrids out of 27 presently being marketed. You will also find some diesel models, not to mention both of advanced electric-drive cars now in the market: Nissan’s all-electric Leaf and Chevrolet’s plug-in hybrid Volt.
