New Acura NSX Supercar to be Developed in U.S. and Built in Ohio
16 Jan 2012, Posted in News Leave a ReplyAcura today announced at NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) in Detroit that the all-new Acura NSX Supercar will be designed in Ohio. Besides this, the new model will be developed in United States, including Ohio Center of Honda Research & Development Americas, Inc. Mr. Takanobu Ito, Chief Executive Officer and President at Honda Motor Company Limited revealed the concept version of Acura NSX in Detroit. The company haven’t revealed the details yet, but the NSX will feature mid-mounted V6 engine, pioneering Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive System (SH-AWD) of Acura and lightweight chassis. Mr. Ito stated that the NSX will be marketed within three years. Along with revealing the NSX Supercar, Ito announced that it will designed in Ohio. Honda Motor Company Limited is planning to manufacture a new supercar near its present automotive production operations in Central Ohio at distinctive, highly developed manufacturing operation.

Mr. Hidenobu Iwata, President of Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. and Head of Honda’s North American manufacturing operations stated that the associates of Honda are up to the challenge of manufacturing the Acura NSX Supercar for international consumers with high degree of craftsmanship. Based on longstanding commitment of building products of Honda close to consumer, it opened the first automotive facility in America nearly three decades ago in the month of November in Marysville, Ohio. Ohio State as compared to other automobile manufacturing companies combined. It has the capacity to produce 680,000 light trucks and passenger vehicles at two of its production facilities in East Liberty and Marysville, Ohio.
Honda started auto research and development in the year 1985 in Ohio and currently, Honda R&D Americas, Inc. Ohio Center specializes in complete product creation, surpassing nearly everything from technology and market research to prototype fabrication and testing, engineering design, support for mass production and local parts procurement. The U.S. R&D operations of Honda have developed 24 new models and are responsible for six cars in company’s present U.S. product lineup, including Pilot SUV, Honda Odyssey minivan, Ridgeline pickup, and Acura MDX, ZDX and TL luxury performance cars.

Acura provides full line of technically advanced performance luxury cars through network of 272 dealers within America. The 2012 Acura lineup gets six distinctive models such as TL performance luxury sedan, RL luxury performance sedan, turbocharged RDX crossover SUV, TSX sports sedan and Sport Wagon, ZDX four-door sports coupe and MDX luxury SUV.
